Today the Virginia House of Delegates passed the Equal Rights Amendment, becoming the 38th state to ratify and adding women to the Constitution. Delegate Hala Ayala was a Chief Co-Patron of this resolution and has been fighting for its ratification since 2008.


Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn appointed Delegate Hala Ayala (HD-51) to be the first ever chair of the newly formed Technology and Innovation subcommittee within the Communications, Technology, and Innovation committee.


Speaker-designee Eileen Filler-Corn announced vice-chair positions for all of the standing House committees. Delegate Hala Ayala (HD-51) was among these appointments as Vice-Chair for the Science and Technology Committee.


Majority Leader-elect Charniele Herring announced leadership position appointments within the House Democratic Caucus. Delegate Hala Ayala (HD-51) has been appointed as Chief Deputy Whip.


Delegate Ayala raised a whopping $243,109 in July and August, the most of any Democrat running for re-election. Of the contributions received in the last two months, 75 percent were less than $100.
