WOODBRIDGE, VA — Today, Delegate Hala Ayala, Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor, joined a gun violence prevention roundtable with Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, Governor Terry McAuliffe, Attorney General Mark Herring, House of Delegates Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn, and gun violence prevention survivors and advocates from across the Commonwealth.
“The fight to end gun violence in our nation is a personal one. When I was just two years old, I lost my father to gun violence,” said Del. Ayala. “I’ve seen firsthand the toll this kind of senseless violence takes on victims’ loved ones and family members. That’s why, as a leader in the House of Delegates, I have made it my priority over the years to pass common sense gun reform laws. But the work can’t stop here.”
“As Lieutenant Governor, I’ll continue to make ending gun violence my priority because no Virginian should fear for their lives at the grocery store or the movie theater. And every child should feel safe going to school and getting an education.”
