WOODBRIDGE, VA — Today, Delegate Hala Ayala, Democratic Nominee for Lieutenant Governor, voted to pass the Governor’s budget, which allocates over $3 billion in critical funding from President Biden’s American Rescue Plan to help Virginians rebuild from COVID-19. This funding will provide more than $700 million for universal broadband, $500 million to improve school infrastructure, and more than $900 million to replenish the Virginia Unemployment Trust Fund and expedite improvements to Virginia’s unemployment system.
“Thanks to this federal funding, delivered by our Democratic partners in Washington, Virginia has the tools we need to build back stronger from this pandemic,” said Del. Ayala. “Today’s vote to expand broadband access, improve our public schools, and modernize critical infrastructure in our state government was a vote to put Virginia’s workers, students, and families first. As Lieutenant Governor, I will continue to advance the Commonwealth’s priorities and ensure every Virginian has an opportunity to thrive.”
