Delegate Ayala Receives Behind-the-Scenes Look at DMV's Woodbridge Customer Service Center

WOODBRIDGE – Delegate Hala Ayala (D-51st), along with Delegate Danica Roem (D-13th) and Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Commissioner Richard Holcomb, spent Thursday morning visiting DMV’s Woodbridge Customer Service Center. Both delegates received an in-depth look at DMV operations and visited with constituents.

Delegate Ayala was particularly impressed with all the various government services DMV offers customers. “Being able to apply to register to vote, get a copy of your birth certificate, get your E-ZPass, and take care of DMV business truly makes DMV a one-stop-shop for government services,” said Delegate Ayala.

In addition to traditional DMV services, the agency also issues certified copies of Virginia vital records at all 74 customer service centers and four mobile offices across the state. Instead of traveling to the Division of Vital Records in Richmond, or requesting certificates by mail, customers can obtain their Virginia birth certificates on-the-spot at DMV. The agency can also issue marriage, divorce, and death certificates. For citizens traveling on toll roads in Northern Virginia, E-ZPass transponders can be purchased at select DMV customer service centers, including the Woodbridge DMV office. A partnership with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries allows customers to obtain their hunting and fishing licenses, as well as submit registration documents for boats and boat trailers at a DMV office.

“DMV is much more than a place to renew your driver’s license or vehicle registration,” explained Commissioner Holcomb. “DMV is always working to expand its portfolio of product offerings. We value our partnerships with other agencies to leverage DMV’s statewide footprint and offer convenient services to every corner of the Commonwealth.”
