Virginia Ratifies the Equal Rights Amendment

RICHMOND - Today, the Virginia General Assembly ratified the Equal Rights Amendment. "So many women before me have paved the way for today’s ratification. I am so proud to stand on their shoulders as I voted to write gender equality into the U.S. Constitution. Today’s ratification is a monumental step in the right direction for equality for all in our country," stated Delegate Ayala.

Delegate Ayala is a Chief Co-Patron of the Equal Rights Amendment and has been one of the legislative leaders for the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment since joining the General Assembly in 2018. Her major legislative priorities center around providing equality and equity to all Virginians.


Delegate Hala Ayala is the Vice-Chair of Communications, Technology, and Innovation, Chair of the Technology and Innovation Sub-Committee, and the Chief Deputy Whip of the Democratic Caucus. She is a cybersecurity expert and has been a resident of Prince William County for over 35 years.
